Dr Phil Hayden graduated from Sydney University in 1980. He trained in burns, plastic surgery, hand surgery and anaesthetics at Concord Hospital in the early 1980’s before working as a procedural rural GP at Milton Hospital for 28 years where he provided skin cancer and hand services to the local community in both an office and hospital-based capacity. He has taught skin cancer and flap surgery at major events in the 90’s, is a foundation fellow of ACRRM, and is an ACSCM and SCCA fellow.
He has previously held the position of Clinical Senior Lecturer at Wollongong University and was an accredited trainer for RACGP and ACRRM. Dr Phil Hayden is currently a member of the SCCA Education Committee and is the Director of the SCCA Advanced Clinical Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery. He works full time at FNQH-Cairns.
Phil is a passionate believer that skin cancer medicine and surgery is and should remain part of primary care. He is keen to pass on his many years of experience in this field to keep this dream alive.
